George Town Happiness Project on the road!!!

Every of us has been participating in group to make research on George Town Happiness Project. People change their surroundings, works, interactions, and thinking patterns with the sole aim to achieve happiness. The long history of people striving for happiness has inspired collaboration between Graphic Comm. Design, School of the Arts, USM and Georgetown City (Think City) to initiate the Happiness Project.

This unit aims at using design and innovative approaches to propose ways to inject happiness into the Georgetown City. Student projects will include areas such as health, environmental, economical and social design. The outcomes will be series of inspiring and innovative ideas that are presented through exhibitions and design events in the Georgetown City.
We had been asking to Brainstorming our ideas and draw some sketches that represent to happiness.
In fact, a lot of question marks travelling in my mind before Dr. Nurul explain this new project to us since i have no idea what should we do. After the explanation and group discussion, we were trying to ask and reflect by asking questions:

  • What " Happiness" mean to the people/ society/ community and ourselves?
  • Is the city of GEORGETOWN is a happy city?
  • How is it a happy/ unhappy city?
  • How can you make the city happier?
  • In what way can DESIGN come in?

By asking several of questions and drew some mind-map, i realized that happiness' not only a emotion but it's also an important material to make our life more wonderful. Everyone wants to be happy or even happiest. So, why don't we make our beautiful city shine with public's happiness?
